Resurrected Clocks

I rescued a number of French clock movements from a barn and decided they should see light of day again.

After cleaning and repair I set about making cases for them and they came out very differently.

This one recreates a Four Glass Case. It is made from plywood with pine mouldings. The glass is acrylic

For this one I decided on a minimalist design as I felt the rack striking mechanism deserved to be visible. The base I turned from oak and the dome is glass.

The balloon clock was made from laminates of MDF and then veneered. The cartouche was made from pieces of laser cut veneer.

The mechanism for this lance clock came from a large French slate clock whose case had completely disintegrated. The case is plywood on a frame and then veneered. The inlays, including the tumbling blocks motif, were all designed in CorelDraw and cut on a laser cutter.

So very satisfying, four clocks resurrected from the dead.
