Perpetual Calendar 2

I like perpetual calendars. There is a wonder in building a wooden computer, all be it limited in functionality. But at least it can display the correct day, date and month up to the year 2100 and then will need resetting because 2100 is not a leap year.

This is the third style of calendar I have built but the one following the work of Achille Brocot from the 1850's was not very successful and needs re engineering. There are also two other calendars  I have started to make but to be frank I don't completely understand their operation so they are on hold.

This particular one is simple, robust and I understand it. Being transparent it looks very good on a desk.

This desktop perpetual calendar is operated manually once a day by moving a lever from right to left and back again. This advances the date and day and when necessary the month. It accounts for the differing days of the month and also leap years and will be accurate up until 2100 which is not a leap year. The design was inspired from an original by Clayton Boyer whose work can be seen and plans can be bought at www.lisaboyer.com
